Tina Barnikow, BSN, RN is the Advisor for Health Plans and Administration at Michigan State University’s Institute for Health Care Studies (IHCS) at Michigan State University.  

Ms. Barnikow earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Michigan State University. 

Ms. Barnikow is a health care professional with more than fifteen years of clinical and administrative experience in Medicaid and Medicare managed care programs. She has extensive experience developing successful relationships with state and federal regulators; and excellent strategic, analytic, and problem-resolution skills with a track record of developing processes and systems.

Prior to joining the Institute, Ms. Barnikow was the Director of Government Programs at Priority Health, which has been recognized by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Top 10 Medicaid managed care plan, as well as by the Michigan Department of Community Health as one of the highest performing Medicaid health plans in the state of Michigan.
