Debra Darling, RN, BSN is a Project Manager for the Institute for Health Care Studies at Michigan State University.
Ms. Darling received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nazareth College and completed the Risk Management Course, School of Healthcare Risk Management at Madonna University. Ms. Darling has over 20 years experience in the health care industry and has been involved in health care quality improvement for more than 10 years.
As a former employee of the Michigan Peer Review Organization, she is familiar with State and Federal rules and regulations governing peer review and has an extensive background in medical record review and case development. Ms. Darling's most recent experience as a Quality Management Manager for a large HMO in the state of Michigan, included the direct oversight of quality management staff for credentialing and recredentialing facility site and medical record reviews, quality of care case investigation, HEDIS and quality improvement data abstraction and the promotion of health education programs. Ms. Darling has also served as a liaison to legal counsel for credentialing, peer review and risk management issues and was involved in corporate risk management activities.
Ms. Darling has participated
in four National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation surveys,
is a member of the Michigan Association of Healthcare Quality and earned professional
certification from the Academy of Healthcare Management.
